This year marks the 29th year of Independance in Antigua and Barbuda.  Each year since 1981 the anniversary is celebrated with a Public Holiday and local school students come together and march through the streets of St. John's.  You can also enjoy a local food fair that is always a hi-light on Independance Day.

Food fairs, sport competitions, dance festivals, art and craft exhibitions and even kite flying contests are held across Antigua during the month-long run up to Independence Day.
